WARKARI
SHIKSHAN SANSTHA (WSS), SHEGAON:
| Warkari
Shikshan Sanstha (Training School for Religious
Preachers):
Warkari Sampradaya is a very famous Bhakti Panth
in Maharashtra, started by Sant Shreshtha Dnyaneshwara.
The devotees who go to Pandharpur to have the
darshan of Shri Vitthal on foot at least once
a year on the occasion of Ashadhi or Kartiki Ekadashi
are called Warkaries. These devotees while travelling
chant and sing devotional bhajans, bharudas, songs
on the rhythm of Tals (cymbals), Veena and Mridanga.
Warkaries are supposed to be equal. They eat,
drink, mix with each other irrespective of their
cast or creed, ricliness or poverty, being young
or old, male or female. God pervades each and
every object, every living/non-leaving being,
is the fundamental teaching of all the saints
belonging to Warkari Sampradaya. Whole of man
kind in the universe is the creation of God. This
and other lofty and sublime spiritual ideals have
been taught by Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Namdeo,
Sant Tukaram, Sant Eknath and many other saints
in easy-to-understand language to the common.
