WARKARI SHIKSHAN SANSTHA (WSS), SHEGAON:

Warkari Shikshan Sanstha (Training School for Religious Preachers):
Warkari Sampradaya is a very famous Bhakti Panth in Maharashtra, started by Sant Shreshtha Dnyaneshwara. The devotees who go to Pandharpur to have the darshan of Shri Vitthal on foot at least once a year on the occasion of Ashadhi or Kartiki Ekadashi are called Warkaries. These devotees while travelling chant and sing devotional bhajans, bharudas, songs on the rhythm of Tals (cymbals), Veena and Mridanga. Warkaries are supposed to be equal. They eat, drink, mix with each other irrespective of their cast or creed, ricliness or poverty, being young or old, male or female. God pervades each and every object, every living/non-leaving being, is the fundamental teaching of all the saints belonging to Warkari Sampradaya. Whole of man kind in the universe is the creation of God. This and other lofty and sublime spiritual ideals have been taught by Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Namdeo, Sant Tukaram, Sant Eknath and many other saints in easy-to-understand language to the common. All the saints propogated the philosophy of Warkari Sampradaya


  • Gjanan Maharaj Sansthan started Warkari Shikshan Sanstha in 1964.
  • The students are taught religions Texts like Dnyaneshwari, Bhagwat-Geeta, Bhagwat, TukaramGatha and the Biographies of saints with their teachings and Sanskrit also.
  • Training is also given in playing Tals (cymbals); Mridanga and singing of Abhangas - Bharudas - Aaratis and performing Kirtanas and Pravachanas.
  • They are also taught Tailoring, Clay-modeling, Toy-making and making of Candles and Agarbatties.
  • Clothes, Meals-Breakfast, Books-Note-books etc are provided free of cost.
  • Students from all over Maharashtra are considered for admission.
  • The candidate should have passed at least 7th standard examination.
  • Nearly 100 candidates are admitted.

PUBLICATION AND SALE ACTIVITY:

'Shri Gajanan Vijay' a biography in poetic form, by Shri Dasganu Maharaj is the most notable of sansthans own publication. This Grantha was first published in 1922. Till date, 39 editions later, 11,82,000 copies of this Grantha have been printed and sold.

  • Sansthan also publishes this Grantha in Hindi, English, Gurathi, Telugu and Kannada Versions.
  • Pocket size editions of this Grantha are also made available by Sansthan.
    'Shri Gajanan Vijay Prarthana Stotra' for daily Parayan is also published by Sansthan in Medium and pocket sizes.
  • The sansthan also publishes low price editions of Dnyaneshwari, Eknathi-Bhagwat, Tukaram Gatha and other religious Granthas of saints.
  • Photoes of Gajanan Maharaj are available in 4 different sizes.
  • Sansthan also gets Audio Cassetts recorded from professional singers and music composers. Bhoopalies, Aaratis, Bhajans are recorded on cassetts.
  • Some of these are sung by India's Nightingale-Lata Mangeshkar and her sister Usha Mangeshkar.
  • To spread the Teaching of Shri Gajanan Maharaj and also to make people aware of the work done by sansthan in various fields

SWAMI VIVEKANANDA CULTURAL CENTER, (Shegaon):

  • Located just adjacent to Anand Sagar Project , Swami Vivekananda Institute of culture spreaded over 10 acres of Land is on the verge of completion.
  • It has Sadhu Niwas wherein Sadhus (monks) will reside. This has been completed.
  • The construction of Pravachan Hall is in progress.
  • A Library Hall with all relevant facilities and stock of numerous titles of Religious scriptures / periodicals is being built. It will help the devotees and the visitors to read and think deeply about the purpose of human birth.
  • An Art Gallery of 20,000 sq.ft. is being built. It will house pictures statues-articles related to Ancient culture and Tradition. Visitors will get glimpses of India's rich heritage.
  • Matru Seva Sangh (Women upliftment wing) is an ambitious project under which 1000 destitute and poor women will be well looked-after. To make these women support themselves they will be taught skills like Printing, Tailoring, Operating Computers, Preparation of Food-items etc. These women then no longer be burden on society, instead will positively contribute towards it.
